The shield is adamantine, and cannot be broken, cut, chipped, dented, or melted except by deities. Lesja's shield had a 67% chance of returning magical attacks directed at the wielder of the shield, or the shield itself, right back at the attacker (including a portion of area-effect spells, roughly equal to 17% of the spell).
