The god Nathel supposedly created two very powerful gauntlets for his prized general, Orcen Roreth. Each gauntlet performed a different task, having been given semi-sentience. The left gauntlet was named Opporus, and the right was named Blaztorus. General Roreth was Chaotic Evil; his sheer force of will bent both gauntlets, neither of his alignment, to his will -- thus, only a Chaotic Evil character may wear both gauntlets. One is Lawful Evil, and the other is Neutral Evil; a Lawful Evil character may wear Opporus, and a Neutral Evil character may wear Blaztorus. If anyone not of these alignments touches the gauntlets (or a Neutral Evil character touches the Lawful Evil gauntlet, and vice-versa), then he dies -- no save. Detect magic cast on either gauntlet will only reveal that these powerful artifacts are magical. Read magic cast on them will reveal the names of each gauntlet, and the placard that indicates its powers (provided the caster can read Nathelian). Both gauntlets communicated telepathically. Neither gauntlet could be removed voluntarily, but if the hand within the gauntlet were to be removed from the body of the wearer, the hand could be pulled out of the gauntlet.

Opporus: (Lawful Evil, ego of ?) This gauntlet helped General Roreth maintain the loyalty of the legions of Nathel, either by outright terror, or by steadfast wisdom. When Roreth’s wrath was too great, it was Opporus who calmed him, and reminded him of the plan, and the stakes. This particular gauntlet actually loved, rather genuinely, the General. Of the two gauntlets, Opporus was the more tolerated and respected.

  • Powers (old): Prior to Nathel’s death, the wearer of Opporus could cast ressurect once per day, bringing the dead back with an automatic curse (see house rules). If the wearer was killed, then he would automatically be ressurected, though with an automatic boon (see house rules). With the passing of Nathel’s mantle to Nabrol, these powers of the gauntlet were lost.

  • Powers (current): Unknown.

  • Placard: "He who is dead shall be ressurected; he who is ressurected shall be dead; he who murders shall be murdered; he who is killed shall kill; he who leads shall be led, just as he who is led, shall lead."

Blaztorus: (Neutral Evil, ego of ?) This gauntlet helped General Roreth turn the bellies of his enemies to cold lumps of fear, and to goad his followers into incredible acts. Blaztorus was extremely devious, and the gauntlets innate abilities allowed it to make a formidable military commander that much more dangerous. Blaztorus was the more powerful gauntet, though highly unpredictable.

  • Powers (old): The wearer of Blaztorus gained all the hit points, experience points, and magical spell abilities of whomever he killed. He also gained one character point each time he killed someone with a character point higher than himself (thus, if the wearer had a 15 STR, and killed someone with a 19 STR, the wearer would gain one point of Strength).

  • Powers (current): Unknown.

  • Placard: "He who destroys shall become the destroyer; he who eradicates shall be become the eradicator; he who strikes fear shall be fearless; he who dies shall be reborn."

It was prophesied that after the death of Nathel, the Dark God would be reborn. Nabrol felt that he was the new Dark God, and that the prophecy was complete -- Blaztorus would disagree.
