TARYN
Cleric of Xynos, Soldier of Korsth
"No.”
Played by Luke Parish

Current Status: Spring, 1331 Avard. After Taryn was separated from his new-found friend Sammeth in the ruins of Tymarell (see the recaps in Campaign VIII), he was reunited with Sammeth as he led the people of Takanal away from the ograns and the Nabrolians up into the relative safety of the ruins. Taryn acquired a great many tomes and parchments from the ruins of Daggoneth, beneath the ruins of Tymarell, before being found and recruited by the half-dragon Xzax to help in the search for the artifact known as Al Mudim. Taryn was last seen heading to sea from Teras at the instruction of Xzax.

flaming masterwork longsword: forged in the fires of the Dragon Lord Korsth's breath, this elven-crafted blade of mithril is blood red in color, and was a gift to Taryn from his feudal lord. Upon command, the blade ignites in flame-sheathed fire an inch away from the metal. A separate verbal command deactivates the fire of the blade. Anyone holding the hilt of the blade is protected from up to six points of fire damage. (Non-cumulative with the matching shirt.)
mithral flaming shirt: forged in the fires of the Dragon Lord Korsth's breath, this shirt of elven-crafted mithril is blood red in color, and was a gift to Taryn from his feudal lord. Upon command, the shirt ignites in reddish fires an inch away from the oval half-bent links. A separate verbal command deactivates the fire of the blade. Anyone wearing the mithril shirt is protected from up to six points of fire damage. (Non-cumulative with the matching blade.)
ring of protection +3: this ring was named As'shranas by Tylanion of the House of Elm, and perhaps came from the horde of Killashandrastatia. It was found in a vellum envelope with As'shranas' name on it in the ruins of Tymarell, in a secret compartment in a hidden room. The ring is made of gold, with kite shields in an alternating point-crown pattern.
ring of shooting stars: this ring was named Hras'Halas by Tylanion of the House of Elm, and perhaps came from the horde of Killashandrastatia. It was found in a vellum envelope with Hras'Halas' name on it in the ruins of Tymarell, in a secret compartment in a hidden room. The ring is made of silver and gold entertwined into a miniature torc.
Spells: 4/3. He tends to use detect magic, cause fear, and sanctuary.

Appearance: Taryn's skin is a light, sun-touched color. He's a half-elf with slightly pointed ears and little facial hair, about 30 years of age, with long auborn hair tied back in a clasp. His eyes are powerful iron-gray in color, large, and missing little, constantly shifting, assessing, and looking. He tends to wear travel-stained leathers and moves with confidence and power.

Background: Korstholansthurast is the leader of the warriors and defenders of the Dragon Nation. A militant lord, Korsth has drawn to his banner many different peoples for a variety of reasons: some hate the Inquisition, some worship the dragons, many sympathize with those who would stand for freedom, and others were merely locals whom have found a calling. Taryn found a calling both in the Dragon Nation of Wuron S'fa, and in being a cleric of the Dragon God Xynosalionisis.

Korsth and many of the other dragon lords are having their own difficulties, finding themselves rulers of non-dragons, and wondering how best to rule them, and how best to preserve their new-found nation -- and their species. The ruler of the Dragon Nation still communicates with the intelligence networks in Rakore, where an ancient legend had come to life; in the ruins of Tymarell in Rakore, a dragon co-ruled with dwarves and men. Taryn was sent to Rakore to investigate the ruins of Tymarell, and gather whatever other information he could about dragons in Rakore.

Roleplaying Notes: Taryn is a man of patriotism to the Dragon Nations, and devotion to Xynos -- but neither to more of an extent than his devotion to the land. Taryn is the quintessential midievel conservationist; he believes in Nature, knowledge, and nastiness to anyone with an evil bent towards either.
