Possessions: Be it a step across the street or a journey of a thousand miles, Garalus wears a suit of golden celestial armor +1 over golden leathers, beneath a suit of full mithral plate, with a large mithral shield, and a mithral helm that has a mithral and gold crown welded to it. His arsenal is rarely more than an arms' distance away, and consists of the longsword Night-hunter (see item entry), and a +4 mighty composite longbow with a quiver of endless arrows (each a +3 arrow). In a golden-leather pack that he sometimes tosses over one shoulder, Garalus carries with him a fifty-foot cable made of twisted steel, as well as iron rations, torches, a wineskin, and other travelling items.
Spells: Cleric 6/7+1/7+1/7+1/6+1/6+1/5+1/5+1/4+1/4+1, Paladin 3/3/3.

Appearance: Tall for a Sylvan elf, his sinewy limbs are almost always encased in steel. His blue eyes seem wise within a tanned face full of tiny white battle-scars, wreathed by dirty-blonde hair. His platemail is as bright as newly polished silver, and his gold and silver surcoat speaks more of quality than wealth. Over all of this, he wears a silver and gold cape and mantle that betokens his status as the Chosen of Arpelos.

Background: A traveller from another world, Garalus first set foot on Gaeleth during the Storm Wars. The efforts of his god Arpelos helped repel the attacks of the Dark God's undead, and Garalus began to gather about him a small core of defenders -- including the last of the titanium dragons. Garalus and the other defenders of Arpelos had little fore-warning before they were catapulted forward in time, due to some temporal anomolies caused by the Shield.

The Church of Arpelos fell out of time in the midst of the War of the Undead. Garalus' mount had not gone forward, and had aged five centuries in the midst of the Inquisition. Garalus and Artanus, the titanium dragon, vaulted to the front lines to deal with the War of the Undead head on, while his personal guard and the other members of the church helped defend the flanks of many nations against millions of undead. An elite team of warriors and wizards from the nation of Rakore helped deliver into Garalus' hands the legendary God Slayer, Giran Howel (see item entry). Armed with Giran Howel, Garalus slew the Dark God, Nathel, as the necromancer Demik Coruth raised him.

In the aftermath of the War of the Undead, Garalus has reestablished the Church of Arpelos, with its main temple in the Holy City of Karmen, and the other main temple in Kur Maeth. The Church has openly defied the Inquisition a number of times, and although small in numbers, its power -- and supposed possession of the God Slayer -- has kept its political opponents in check.

Roleplaying Notes: Incredibly practical and level-headed, Garalus displays candor and tact in the face of danger. Virtually fearless, his faith in Arpelos gives him strength of stature and wisdom that makes other men jealous. Skilled in the use of a variety of weapons, he uses any weapon available. Always keeping the cause of the greater good in mind, he is the epitome of good to the world. To his friends, he is as acid-tongued as a black dragon, with a lack of tact that would peel the skin off of any lesser men. Though his faith is real and true, only duty keeps him within his post. He often wonders what might have happened, had he never taken up Judiciar.

Mount: Artanusalanthanth, aka 'Artanus', an ancient titanium wyrm (see creature entry on titanium dragons). Garalus' first mount was a pegasus that served him faithfully for several years. The escape to Gaeleth severed the relationship of the two, and the morose Chosen of Arpelos was sad for some time (about two seconds) before dutifully calling it the will of Arpelos. By luck or design, one of the last of the titanium dragons sought out the former paladin, and offered his services to the new god, and to Garalus.
