Brilathes

Having survived the Ritual of Destiny before the Relic of Brigain within the Tower, Brilathes are given access to aspects of the Master Plan that are well-kept secrets of the Church. Though the Brilathes maintain these records, they are by no means complete, and the archons of Brigain divulge greater aspects of Destiny. Master travellers, they move all over Gaeleth, sometimes quietly, and sometimes with much fanfare. Never completely knowledgeable of their missions, they are sometimes given strange tasks by the Disciples or the Chosen. Because of their innate ability to cast Brigain's Wrath, Brilathes of the Storm God cannot wear metal of any kind -- or even carry metal coins or wear metal holy symbols; all divine spells that require metal as material components are negated to verbal substitutions. Because of this limitation, Brilathes usually hire henchmen or attract followers to carry their metallic monies and items. It is important to note that few churches or priests will actively stand in the way of the Brilathes of Brigain.

Clerics most often become Brilathes, but the occasional bard is willing to endure the Ritual of Destiny, as well. Some paladins, druids, and rangers of Brigain go to the Tower of Destiny to attempt the Ritual, but are more often vaporized than not for failing the Ritual. All classes are welcome to attempt the Ritual, but few are willing to risk their lives for it.

Half of the Brilathes serve at the Tower of Destiny, maintaining the records of Destiny and preparing to receive Prophecy in Brigain's name. The other Brilathes wander the lands on self-appointed tasks of Destiny, in attempts to ensure the Master Plan is adhered to.

Class Features
All of the following are class features of the Brilathe prestige class.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A Brilathe is proficient with all non-metallic simple and martial weapons, and all non-metallic forms of armor.
Brigain's Wrath: After surviving the Ritual of Destiny, Brilathes find that their bodies generate a bioelectrical current of considerable power. This current prohibits them from wearing metal of any sort -- else the metal heats up, sometimes to its melting point. The bioelectric current is a gift of Brigain that can be used for a variety of purposes, but is most often used as an offensive weapon. The power of the current increases with the faith of the Brilathe, and so, too, does the range and effectiveness of the current. When the Brilathe chooses, the current can be discharged as a lightning bolt, with the bolt's damage dependant upon the level of the Brilathe. (Thus, a 3rd-level Brilathe, 8th-level Cleric would release Brigain's Wrath as a 3d6 bolt.) The Brilathe can also choose to have the current discharged in a stunning attack, with the amount of stun damage dependant upon the level of the Brilathe. The stunning version of Brigain's Wrath is a touch attack. At 8th-level, these abilities of Brigain's Wrath become cumulative with all prior caster levels. (Thus, an 8th-level Brilathe, 8th-level Cleric would release Brigain's Wrath as a 16d6 bolt.) This ability can be used a number of times per day, equal to the caster's total levels.
Lightning Immunity: Those that survive the Ritual of Destiny are forever immune to electrical attacks of any sort, be it another Brilathe's use of Brigain's Wrath, or a sorceror's lightning bolt.
Storm Control: Because of Brigain's role as the God of Storms, Brilathes have an uncanny ability to control storm conditions in a variety of conditions. Brilathes gain the ability to cast control weather at 4th-level, but this ability is limited only to creating storms, or undoing them. The range of a Brilathe's use of storm control is four miles, and the casting time becomes two minutes.
Voice of Prophecy: Brilathes cast Divination prayers as supernatural abilities, requiring no casting time to invoke them. Being agents of the God of Prophecy, these prayers still count against their usual number of spells, but it allows them to invoke them in the midst of combat, or even in mid-thought. The Voice of Prophecy functions even in areas where magic is quelled, such as an anti-magic zone.
Agents of Destiny: At 3rd-level, Brilathes can receive the Voice of Prophecy directly from Brigain himself -- influencing events in unusual ways. (For further details, see the entry on Brigain.) At 10th-level, Brilathes can actually influence destiny -- causing the reroll of one die per day, be it any PC die, or a DM roll.
Spells: A Brilathe continues to advance in prayer-casting abilities, as though he had continued to advance as a cleric of Brigain instead of as a Brilathe.
