LADY PHOENIX RISING, Lady of the Forest

Current Status: Summer, 1331 Avard. Phoenix took over the senior druid Lilac's position when she moved to Hallis Island. Phoenix helped to sheppherd in the elves that made the mass exodus from Banoc'bae to Rakore, and acts as their liason to the Rakoran druids. Though by no means the most powerful of the druids, Phoenix proved one of the most combat-worthy during the recent war.

Appearance: A slight Sylvan elf with silver hair and sky-blue eyes, Phoenix has a natural, honest look to her that is both plain and attractive at the same time. Her clothing, armor, weapons, and bearing indicate that she is a woman of considerable experience. This experience is unconscious, translating itself into every aspect of her appearance, making her at one with nature even in appearance. To look at her in non-urban lands for too long makes her nearly invisible.

Background: Phoenix spent the last century growing up with her parents near Ikoranil, in the Banoc Forests. Her father being a druid, and her mother a ranger, the young elven maiden spent her formative years in the care of a black bear that served as her nanny. Watched over by the various animals of the forest until she was old enough to defend herself, Phoenix began to follow in her father's footsteps, until her younger brother Wynde was born. Taking care of Wynde while her parents overworked themselves in the harsh forests, Phoenix was soon befriended by Autumn Starlight, the ArchDruidess for the Banoc Forests. The hard work and dedication of Phoenix's parents was endearing them to the elven people, but the ArchDruidess knew that the children were suffering from lack of attention. Partially taking over as Wynde's caretaker, Autumn Starlight began Phoenix's more formal education in the ways of the druid, and how to draw energy from the land, how to heal it, and how to restore it. Autumn and Phoenix together decided philosophically that there were too few druids in the land, and the aftershocks of the Storm Wars and the Inquisition were to blame. Reluctantly leaving behind all that she cared for, save the latest in a long line of faithful panthers, Phoenix set out to find and recruit more druids the world over, and to spread the faith that the land would, indeed, finally heal. Unfortunatley, her adventure nearly ended in Ikorinil during the annual trade fair. Kidnapped by a greedy merchant captain, she was spirited away to distant Vridara -- a journey of nearly four months at sea. There, a young paladin helped to free her and her panther. At the same time, a gnome from a distant world seemed as out of place as she -- a protector of all life, Phoenix has suddenly found herself the guardian of that gnome in a world where the Inquisition holds sway.

Roleplaying Notes: Phoenix is much like her parents, Storm Rising and Alyssa Wolfsbane -- hard-working, dedicated, and too stubborn to be turned from her path. She dotes a bit on her panther, Cala, but not so much that she spoils the young panther. Like many animals, both she and Cala can strike back with fiercesome force when cornered, but her normal attitude is one of patience. Phoenix spends a great deal of time in introspective analysis, ensuring that her actions are needed as both a druid, and as a defender of life.

Animal Companion: Cala is a young, black panther with an inquisative streak in her a mile long. Blindly faithful in her mistress, she and her ancestors have served Phoenix for nearly five generations. Cala; panther, medium-sized animal; CR2; HD 3d8+6 (19hp); Init +4 (Dex); Spd 40ft, climb 20ft; AC 15 (+4 Dex, +1 natural); Atk bite +6 melee (1d6+3), 2 claws +1 melee (1d3+1); F/R 5x5/5; SA Pounce, Improved grab, rake 1d3+1; SQ Scent; SV Fort +5, Ref +7, Will +2; Str 16, Dex 19, Con 15, Int 2, Wis 12, Cha 6; Skills and Feats: Balance +12, Climb +11, Hide +9*, Listen +6, Move Silently +9, Spot +6, Weapon Finesse (bite, claw). In six months, Cala will reach 4HD progression, and in one year, she will reach her 5HD maximum. Rake (Ex): Cala can make two rake attacks (+7 melee) with her hind legs for 1d3+1 damage each, if she gets ahold of an opponent. *In areas of tall grass or heavy undergrowth, her Hide bonus improves to +12.
