Fall, 1329 Avard. N'kara followed the half-dragon Xzax
away from Hallis Island
to Wuron S'fa
, in search of information for the fabled Al Mudim. They were last seen headed to sea from Gridolin, for Wuron S'fa.
Female Drow'Ari, 6th-Level Druidess, Weretiger
Skills: Animal Empathy +6, Concentration +5, Craft (Woodworking) +4, Handle Animal +6, Hide +8, Heal +7, Intuit Direction +4, Knowledge (Nature) +6, Listen +10, Move Silently +7, Search +7, Spellcraft +3, Spot +10, Swim +2, Wilderness Lore +6.
Feats: Alertness, Scent, Natural Spell, [Improved Initiative], [Expertise].
Special Abilities: [Nature Sense], [Animal Companion], [Woodland Stride], [Trackless Step], [Resist Nature's Lure], [Wild Shape 2/day], Heat, Darkvision 90ft, two claws (1d6-1 ea, crit19-20x2), bite (1d6-1, crit20x3), +4 racial bonus to Climb, Hide, and Move Silently. Heat (Ex): For the entire month of Cal, and the month of Lan, N'Kara must make a Willpower save (DC13) each day -- success indicates that she can function as normal, but failure indicates that she will use all her feminine charm to seduce a random male.
Weretiger Abilities: N'Kara has also managed to merge her wild shapes as a druid with her natural drow'ari abilities. She is, in essence, a weretiger. She does not have the curse of lycanthropy, as it can only be transferred to her children; because of this, she does not have 'lycanthropy as an affliction', and does not need to struggle to stay in one shape or another. Changing shapes is a full-round action that can require a successful Concentration check, depending on circumstances. In tiger and hybrid forms, N'Kara's abilities change as follows: Str +12, Dex +4, Con +6, Blind-Fight, Multiattack, Power Attack, Damage Reduction 15/silver. In all her forms, she has a +2 bonus to Fortitude and Willpower saves, and a +4 racial bonus to Search, Spot, and Listen checks (which jumps to +8 in hybrid and tiger form). Other than as noted, all other characteristics of her lycanthropy appear as noted on p217 of the Monsterous Manual.
Languages: Common, Druidic, Elven.
Date of Birth: circa 1228 Avard.
Possessions: N'Kara wears a suit dark leather armor, and a small wooden shield decorated in a leaf motif. She also carries a pack with things like a healer's general kit, holly and mistletoe, and other rare herbs and incenses, as well as a waterskin. She wears a belt pouch with similar items in it, in lesser quantities, though no less potent. On her right hand she wears a small silver ring with a red-orange diamond whose continual light spell radiates light just like a torch, though she usually wears it with the tiny, inset diamond facing inward towards her palm. N'Kara wears a kiriath bracelet (nondetection and invisibility to undead) upon her left ankle. In addition to the scimitar Letheleyehema (detail below), she has a watered-steel scimitar that bears the Official Seal of Rakore stamped onto the base of the blade -- an indication of her title of knight.
Letheleyehema: scimitar +3 (43,330 gp); Int 16 (3), Wis 8 (-1), Cha 17 (3), Ego 12; Communication -- speech (Common, Terran, Druidic, Elven); AL NG; grants bearer free use of Improved Initiative and Expertise, mage armor on wielder (1 per day); sheds a deep green light in a 20-foot radius (as a torch).
Appearance: N'Kara is a tiny drow elf with the classic ebon-black skin and white hair of her race. In addition to the pointed ears, however, her light gray (nearly silver) eyes are slitted like a cats, and her fingernails and toenails are like claws. Bits of long, pointed fangs can just be seen on her dark lips, because her canines are cat-like in length -- and her tongue is cat-like in texture. Her leathers are a bit worn, though well-maintained, and her leather armor is a gift from a friend. Her braided hair usually has bits of twigs and greenery in it, no matter the season or length of time since the greenery was picked.
Background: The Duchess Genea of Rakore amassed considerable wealth all bent towards one task: reuniting the Dark Race, that they might finally have a welcome home. To that end, she hired several mercenary vessels from Rakore to go to the lands of Nabrol, and enlist the aid of the rebels in smuggling out many of the drow'ari from those lands, and bringing them back to Rakore. One of the mercenary vessels was caught by the Nabrolians, and sunk off the coast of Chirin Isle.
N'Kara was perhaps the lone survivor, thanks to her animal companion, a full-grown white tiger known as Snowstalker. Snowy and N'Kara wandered Chirin isle for several years, avoiding the humans and the giants left behind by Nabrolian priests. On the northern end of the large island, she discovered an ancient set of buildings that were perhaps haunted. Staying in that area, and hoping to put nature back to right within it, she met up with a group that was visiting from far away.
The leader of the group, an old human named Ye'amen, asked her to join them in investigating the buildings, and searching for something to aid him in his personal quest. In aiding him, he would aid her, and hope to set right whatever was wrong within the complex of buildings... Thus began a strange relationship with the party that would quest to find Al Mudim.
In the summer of 1329, she was awarded the title of 'knight' by Duke Henrik Kamus for her role in destroying a pirate ring operating from his island.
Roleplaying Notes: N'Kara is quiet and reserved, preferring the company of her cat Snowy to anyone else. Fiercely protective of her tiger, she is also fiercely protective of nature, feeling a strong afinity for all life -- even the noisy, smelly, sentient races.
Animal Companion: Snowstalker is a white tiger that N'Kara had befriended in her mountain home, from the lands of Nabrol. The tiger was but a kitten when she found it, orphaned by Nabrolian priests eager to torture their people with a rampaging white tiger mother suddenly torn from her cub. N'Kara has raised and trained the tiger from kitten-hood, and it has a laid-back, relaxed personality. It once even took an arrow in the shoulder, and merely glanced back at N'Kara with a, "What the hell was that?" look.
Snowstalker (aka Snowy): large animal (3'6"x9', 400lbs); HD 6d8+18; 45hp; Init +2 (Dex); Spd 40ft, climb 40ft; AC 20 (-1 size, +2 Dex, +3 natural, +3 bracers of armor, +3 scale-leather armor); Atks +9 melee (2 claws, 1d8+6 per, crit19-20x2) and +4 melee (bite, 2d6+3, crit20x3); F/R 5x10/5ft; SA Pounce, improved grab, rake 1d8+3; SV Fort +8, Ref +7, Will +3; Str 23, Dex 15, Con 17, Int 3, Wis 12, Cha 6. Skills: Balance +6, Hide +5*, Listen +3, Move Silently +9, Spot +3, Swim +11; she receives a +4 racial bonus to Balance, Hide, and Move Silently checks, and in snow or winter conditions her Hide bonus improves to +8. Pounce (Ex): If she leaps upon a foe during the first round of combat, she can make a full attack even she has already taken a move action. Improved Grab (Ex): To use this ability, she must hit with a claw or bite attack; if she gets a hold, she can rake. Rake (Ex): Should Snowy get ahold, she can make two rake attacks (+9 melee) with her hind legs for 1d8+3 damage each. If she pounces on an opponent, she can also rake. Snowstalker wears bracers of armor +3 on her forelegs. On her right hindleg, Snowy is wearing a kiriath bracelet (nondetection and invisibility to undead). Beneath a suit of masterwork scale-leather armor, lies a tabard of spider-climbing.
