Apprentice Mage to Taria MacKolm

Current Status: Summer, 1331 Avard. In the aftermath of the War of the Four Winds, Gabriel took over the duties of the Lyle House from Taria McKolm, who died during the fighting for Kashin. Gabriel's combat casting and subsequent growth not only allowed him to recall his memories, but gave him greater access to his magics. Gabriel was assigned several apprentices of his own, and earned the right to be entitled Master of the Arcane. The Lyle House survived most of the damage to Kashin, and was restored quite quickly under Gabriel's stewardship.

Date of Birth: Unknown (probably around 1209 Avard).
Possessions: Gabriel wears a longsword that was given to him by Mistress Taria for the 1328 End of Year celebration.  He was given a holy symbol of Habrem as a morning-after present by one of the priests (or was it one of the priestesses?) of the Crystal Wren, and has since worn it proudly about his neck. On his hooded black cloak, he wears a brooch of shielding, given to him as his apprenticeship gift from Taria MacKolm. At the Lyle House, he keeps a small chest with 1,170gp in it; the key to the chest is kept about his neck, next to the key to the Lyle House.

Appearance: He has the classical bronzed skin of the Sylvan elves, and long, lustrous black hair with brown highlights.  He has intense, azure-blue eyes full of curiosity, and a slight, faded scar several inches long on his right cheek that adds to his debonair attitude.  Gabriel tends to wear high quality, leather leggings of a rich black, with his black, calf-high hiking boots.  His tunic is a blue as intense as his eyes, and has a braided leather belt in black about it with a longsword on one side and a dagger on the other.

Background:  Gabriel has no memory before the 10th of Davor, 1328 Avard.  He awoke to the kindly face of Taria MacKolm, an older human woman out in search of mages -- and she had found one.  Taria helped nurse the beaten and broken elf back to health, even while she evaluated his talent for sorcerous power.  Gabriel remembered his name, how to speak, and a few other things -- but nothing about his past.  When Gabriel was ready to travel, Taria brought him back to the Lyle House in Kashin, where she began to instruct him in the arts of magic, and hoped to unlock the story of his past.  Several experts were brought in, but none could discern the origin of the mysterious young elf.

Over the course of the next year, Gabriel would go on to unlock his sorcerous powers under the tutelage of the Lyle House's mistress.  Taria told him that he had been found in the forests east of Kashin, amidst a scene of violence -- blood, the remains of an ogran camp, and no sign of who or what had done it to him.  She also told him that his blood was different; all other sorcerers before had been either of draconic or demonic descent, but his blood was neither.

Gabriel would have to go on find out just who and what he was, and more importantly, just who he had been.  To help him in that regard, Gabriel summoned a familiar to help him 'nose' about his past, and perhaps discover what had happened to him.

Roleplaying Notes: He is an elf with an intense curiosity and a zest for life.  He also has a fierce sense of righteous indignation, and had stood up to bullies twice as large as himself.  Gabriel is the kind of elf that, if he sees someone starving in the street, he is not above acquiring a meal for them from a fat restaurant patron -- from right under their noses.  He is a confrontational kind of elf that 'knows' he is right, and confronts people in such a way that he erodes their moral high ground.  Gabriel is the kind of person that people either love, or hate.

Behind his quest for fairness and justice, is an intense dread of what he might find out about his own past -- as the nightmares rouse him, sometimes, leaving him wondering why he awoke with a nameless terror.  The nameless fear brings him into the light once the sun sets, and keeps his sword and dagger close at hand.

Familiar:  Gabriel's familiar is a timber wolf puppy with a black, studded leather collar, and blue eyes as intense a blue as Gabriel's.  Ash is classic black, gray, and white in color, and tends to stay somewhat near Gabriel -- just close enough to run in an bite someone on the buttocks, and just far enough away to keep an eye on everything.  Ash is an inquisitive wolf, with a puppy's curiosity -- but can never stray too far from his master.  He grants Gabriel a +2 bonus to all Willpower saves, and the Alertness feat when within arm's reach of Garbriel.  Oddly enough, the puppy is nearly a year old -- and still the same size as a puppy.

Trip (ex):  A wolf that hits with a bite attack can attempt to trip the opponent (+1 check modifier) as a free action without making a touch attack or provoking an attack of opportunity.  If the attempt fails, the opponent cannot react to trip the wolf.
Skills:  *Ash has a +4 racial bonus on Survival checks when tracking by scent, and a +4 racial bonus on Search checks, when being inquisitive.
