Fairyth


Current Status: Summer, 1331 Avard. After arriving in Rakore, Fairyth has taken on a number of escort and bodyguard duties. He saw considerable service during the War of the Four Winds, and was given the title of Reeve by several guilds in Kashin, Teras, and Rilan. The title was officiated and then promoted to Sergeant by the Baron-and-the-Bishop Dwarfendale. Fairyth still tends to take escort and guard duties for travelers and merchants, but as since taken to contracting the work out to follow his own pursuits, with his eyes on moving to Archeria in the near future.

Special Attacks: With the longbow, Fairyth's range and accuracy are incredible. He can strike at other archers from farther away than they would have thought possible, and his speed is phenomenal -- granting him one additional attack per round with the bow.

Appearance: Fairyth is a moderately tall young elf, with slate gray eyes and dirty-blonde hair. He wears wood-stained leathers of browns and greens, with mid-calf riding boots and a large over-coat of thick, weather-proof leather. Strapped to his side on his belt is a utilitarian shortsword, and across his back is a large quiver of yard-long arrows. He carries a small set of saddle-bags that serves as his pack, and in one hand is a massive bow smoothed by years of sweat and use.

Background: Fairyth grew up in the Gan Forest, in what is Vikerma. Never owing allegiance to the cruel kings of that land, he and his kindred spent their lifetimes simply trying to survive as rebels and thieves, evading the Vikerman guard, and praying that they would never be captured for use in the ancient Vikerman-Nutedaen blood feud. Tired of running, and tired of hiding, Fairyth joined forces with a Vikerman warrior that was as tired of war as the young elf. The two then allied themselves with a foreign assassin who wished to escape the blood-feud; thus arrayed, the three of them escaped Vikerma through guile, speed, and force aboard a foreign trading vessel bound for the far south. After many stops, and many moons, the three of them landed in Rakore. Splitting up, Fairyth went his own way in the foreign lands -- free to move as he pleased, and show his elven heritage without fear.

Equipment: Inside his small saddle-bags, Fairyth keeps a variety of utilitarian items, from torches to silk ropes, rations to wineskins. He also keeps several healing salves and poultices, as well as spare tools to create bows and arrows.

Magical Items: The young elf keeps several doses of a light healing potion on him at all times. Though relatively weak compared to the powerful healing prayers of a priest, the potions are never-the-less carefully guarded.

Roleplaying Notes: Fairyth is a free soul, looking only for opportunity to live and survive without fear of prosecution or conscription. Able to travel freely about Rakore, he feels at home, able to travel wherever he might wish, and wherever his spirit takes him. Sometimes hiring out as a mercenary or escort, he never takes long-term missions. If the escort knows something of bows that Fairyth does not, the Sylvan elf accepts the duty with his only payment being to learn. Fairyth can sometimes be found in a tavern, sitting in the back, simply watching with smiling eyes and a knowing half-grin.
