Background: Kaladin is by trade an antithief; by contract, he improves a building's defenses against spies, assassins, and thieves. He is currently a member of the Company of the White Wolves, based out of Dhulnarim, Erlkazar. Kaladin was born and raised in Athkatla, Amn, on Hammer the 6th, 1345. At the age of fifteen, his father's betrayal to the Shadow Thieves as one of their assassins resulted in the assassination of Kaladin's family. He fled Amn, and wandered the south for ten years doing clerical work and practicing antithievery. Kaladin then found work with the 'Hidden Harper', Nerin Jhenerael. After Nerin's death, Kaladin and the rest of the White Wolves continued his work in the south, maintaining ties with the Harpers. Magical items: Ring of protection +2, the enchanted shortsword +1 Serusk (brother weapon to Susk), shadowcloak, Finder's gauntlets (+5% OL, +5% PP, 85% chance to find secret doors by touch), wand of fire with 13 charges. Equipment: Composite shortbow, throwing daggers, thieves' picks, darksuit (+5% HS), weaponblack (+5% HS), spell components, 50' silk rope, fine ink, silver-tipped griffon quill, waterproofed and locked spellbook, flip-top silver razor-ring, aniseed vial, dog pepper packet. Role-playing notes: Any time Kaladin wanders off by himself, he immediately finds trouble. Because of this, he rarely leaves the company of anyone he is with; though he feigns cowardice, he is brave to the point of stupid. Though he can be quite graceful, if he stops to think about what he does, he suddenly becomes a total clutz. His greatest strength is in his words and his hands; his ink can capture vistas or make descriptions with amazing accuracy. His silver tongue is less often used, though no less effective, and his memory is uncanny. He has a 67% chance to pen a spell scroll any time he sits down to do so, and has many of his spells on hand in such a fashion. He's also an uncanny locksmith, with a 95% chance to open one. Spells: (On scroll, but not in spellbook) magic missile, fist of stone, (spellbook and on scroll) cantrip, read magic, detect magic, Murdock's feathery flyer, jump, expditious retreat, change self, armor, sleep, improved phantasmal force, (shadowcloak) darkness 15' radius, continual dark, darkness, (wand of fire) burning hands, pyrotechnics, fireball, wall of fire.
