The Burn

The burn is the week during the month in which the red light of Maroth lights up the night fully. With full daylight during the day and full Maroth light at night, the week can get a bit bright and take a toll on the psyche of people attempting to find darkness. Hunters, however, revel in the Burn.

The warmer part of the month is just after the time when Maroth rises as the sun sets. This warmer time is called 'the Burne'. The colder part of the month is the time just after the darkness of Maroth's eclipsing the sun. This time is called 'the Freeze'. Just before the Freeze is when the plants store up a bit more sugars and starches than normal, and is usually a time of relative monthly harvest.

Currency

Most of the gaming systems, such as Dungeons and Dragons, use a pricing system based around copper, silver, and gold coinage, artificially set at a ratio of 10:10:1 (such that 10 'coppers' equals 1 'silver', and 10 'silvers' equals 1 'gold'). For instance, the d20v3.5 Player's Handbook lists a mug of ale as worth 4cp (copper pieces), a sheet of paper as worth 4sp (silver pieces), and a set of custom-tailored full-plate armor as worth 1,500gp (gold pieces).

The time of the month in which Maroth eclipses the sun for two days. The Freeze is colder than normal times of the month, but is also a time for the undead and wrestless spirits and other denizens of the night to roam more freely than usual. Many peoples lock themselves inside for as much of the Freeze as possible. Other peoples revel in the night that lasts for sixty hours.

Gaeleth is a SisterWorlds campaign world with a rich history, dating back over ten thousand years into recorded history. It is a large world, full of mages, gods, dragons, and more. More than half-covered in water, with vast expanses of land, it suffers from mage-controlled weather patterns, remnants of the ancient ways, and the gravitic tug of being a moon world to the brown dwarf star known as Maroth.

Gaeleth is the innermost moon of the gas giant Maroth, in the Ekiras System. Gaeleth is a class M world, somewhat larger in diameter than Earth and less dense, with roughly the same mass. The atmosphere is 75% nitrogen, 23% oxygen, and 2% trace gases, with an average annual temperature of 15 degrees Celsius. A single massive ocean dominates one hemisphere of Gaeleth, and water takes up some three quarters of the planet's surface. There are several mountains with peaks well above ten…

It is the second planet in the Ekiras System, and supports two Class M planets, each supporting humanoid life. The view from Gaeleth is considered to be similar to viewing Jupiter at the moon's distance from earth, even though Maroth is larger than Jupiter (

Ebonite

The stellar neighborhood surrounding Gaeleth and its parent star, Ekiras, is full of a dark metal known as ebonite. In its natural state, mixed with nickel and iron, ebonite takes on a dark, lustrous shine, especially after falling through the atmosphere to land on Gaeleth's surface. Ebonite is fairly recognizable, though rare enough on the surface of Gaeleth. Small deposits exist in ancient impact craters, as remnants from the original meteors.

A number of constellations and stars are visible from Gaeleth. The constellations known to Gaeleth changed in 1320 Avard, when Maroth rose for the first time in recorded history. The current constellations (post 1320 Avard) are the same as those that existed over ten millennia ago. This change in the constellations and the stars visible from Gaeleth has caused considerable consternation in such fields as astronomy and astrology. The 'new' constellations have varying…

These forms of non-standard sight are defined below, as well as several other, Gaeleth-specific forms of sight.
