Many people believe the 'Dion' is another name for Ayelin, the God of Water. How or why this alternate naming exists is unknown, and is further confused by the use of the feminine descriptor. Some speculate the 'god of water' may actually have been both a god and a goddess, or two aspects of the same deity. Only ancient documents from before the Shaping Wars reflects the name Dion, and others speculate that Dion became Ayelin.
