Campaign IX, Chapter 4, Session 44

Title: A Steel Dragon in Chasadan

Characters: Greff, Dert,Arkhan, Corrin

Date: Early Vor, 1332 Avard

Synopsis: The lead ME team brings the steel dragon Starvest to Chasadan, and introduces him to the Ducal Mage.

Story

Evening of the 2nd of Vor, 1332 Avard.

The dragon known as Shkelshtarvestish, or Starvest for short, agreed to travel with the party back to Chasadan to meet with the Ducal Mage. Before leaving the northeaster flank of Mount Breakhammer, however, the team decided to stay the night in Starvest's cave.

During the fourth shift, before dawn, megapedes attacked en mass. The team held the defense at the front, aided by elementals that Starvest brought in for the attack. The megapedes had an acid that they could spew at a distance, and while dangerous, it proved harmless against dragon scale – more or less. Arkhan took some painful acid, but the burns it caused did not permanently damage him.

The team decided to go ahead and move on, and then spent the next four days heading back to Rustos; Starvest traveled on Demon or Bergeron, while the large bell was pulled by Buck on a travois. Without Starvest in the Dragon's Bones, the ruins would likely be overrun with megapedes – thus assuring Greff's supply of sarak to spice of his ale.

When the team arrived in Rustos again, they were greeted warmly and welcomed as heroes. The team indicated that they had found a blind man on the mountain, but no sign of the Dragon's Bones – keeping the location of the giant ruins a secret. Greff made sure that Donald the Miller had some sarak with which to spice up several batches of ale, and encouraged the miller to experiment.

The next day was spent traveling east towards Chasadan, with the team finally arriving home after a month and three days' worth of travel. They were tired, and ready to relax, but first they had to visit the Meridian Manner and make sure that Hershel met Starvest.

While the team had been out, a Sir Galewind had visited Chasadan from Palatus. Galewind had brought with him a dragon-slaying sword, as promised by the Baron Palatus. When the sword entered the room, as per Hershel's instructions to return it to Arkhan, Starvest very nearly panicked. The dragon could feel the power of the dragon-slaying blade, even if he could not see it.

The blade was placed in an enchanted sack that would hide its magic, and Starvest relaxed a bit. The Meridian Manner began to celebrate, for their lead team had returned, a dragon had been found, and there was a new trophy for the wall: a complete exoskeleton of a megapede.

And somewhere in the celebrations, Arkhan received his fifth holbrace, making him a Prelate of Xynosalionisis.

Evening of the 11th of Vor, 1332 Avard.

Dinner was nachos, and they were good. We're going to have to do that again – with more of everything.

This session wrapped up eight months of gaming, and one month and three days in the lives of our characters. Beginning with IX-4-22's episode 'Ducal Days', and ending with this episode, spans a lot of changes in the characters and in the people that play them. Were these TV episodes, we would've just wrapped up Season Two (more or less). What happens next is anyone's guess, but I foresee a number of one-shots until we get an idea of where to go next.

If Dave reminds me, he's entitled to some nifty hide armor, provided he's willing to pay Roswyn to enchant it. That encounter alone will be worth it!
